A water sensory proficiency program is a structured scheme that tests whether trained tasters can correctly identify flavour defects that fall outside a product’s quality specification. It is used across the water and beverage industry to:

HOW THE SINGLE-ROUND PROGRAM WORKS

The single-round format is designed for organisations trialling the FlavorActiV proficiency platform for the first time or those needing occasional, non-recurring sensory validation.

Step 1 – Order and Receive Your Calibration Pack
After your order, a single calibration pack is shipped. It contains GMP-grade Flavour Standard capsules representing the 14 off-flavours in the scheme, plus a control sample.

Step 2 – Complete the IN/OUT Proficiency Test
Participants taste each sample and determine whether it is IN specification (acceptable) or OUT of specification (a detectable defect). This method is widely used in beverage quality control and follows international sensory evaluation standards.

Step 3 – Log Results on the TVS2 Platform
Once tasting is complete, results are submitted via the FlavorActiV TVS2 platform. Single-round participants have limited access. Full access, including performance tracking, historical trend data, and certification, is exclusive to annual subscribers.

The TVS2 platform is mobile-friendly and accessible globally, allowing results to be submitted from any location.

We produce encapsulated GMP (Pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice) Flavour Standards that are safe to both smell and drink. Industry leading packaging and shelf-life

FlavorActiV flavour standards are blister packaged, which extends shelf-life and protects capsules from potential contamination. The average shelf-life of FlavorActiV flavour standards is 18 months to 4 years, depending on the flavour compounds.

We will never ship in pots or plastic packaging, here’s why…

Blister packaging protects capsules from the environment until they are ready for use. Blister packaging greatly reduces the amount of headspace for possible flavour escape. As each capsule individually blister packaged, making use of one capsule still leaves all others protected. FlavorActiV Flavour Standard packaging is 100% recyclable, as opposed to polypropylene which is not widely recycled.

Pots are semi-porous, they allow molecules to pass through and flavour to be lost, their significant headspace also adds to substantial flavour escape as a gas, even when using just one capsule all those remaining in the pot are exposed.
